Filing for Unemployment

These three steps will help to make sure you get your unemployment insurance claim filed correctly:

Step 1: Get Informed

For general information about Unemployment Insurance, including what it takes to qualify and how your benefits are computed, download and print this document. Here are answers to frequently asked questions about Unemployment Insurance.

Step 2: File an Initial Claim for Unemployment Insurance

Arapahoe/Douglas Works! is not the Unemployment Insurance (UI) program office; Unemployment Insurance programs are administered through the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment (CDLE). Initial claims can be started either by phone or through the coworkforce.com web site.

The fastest way to file an initial claim for unemployment is through the web; go to the web site at http://www.coworkforce.com/uiic and follow the instructions on how to place your claim.

If you prefer to file your claim on the phone, the number in Metro Denver is 303-318-9000; from other areas including outside Colorado call 1-800-388-5515. The Hearing Impaired can call (TDD) 303-318-9016 or 1-800-894-7730.

Step 3: Registering for Work with a Local Workforce Center

Registering for Work with the Workforce Center is required to receive unemployment benefits. You can register with any Local Workforce Center (including Arapahoe/Douglas Works!) by visiting connectingcolorado.com
