Discussing common barriers that people with disabilities face when it comes to employment and why businesses should consider hiring people with disabilities.
In this presentation, we will discuss five common barriers to employment. These include Physical, Communication, Technology, Systemic, and Attitudinal Barriers. We know that people with disabilities increase workforce diversity, and this has proven time and time again to be a huge benefit to employers, especially when recruiting talent. Therefore, increasing teamwork, motivation, and creating a positive workplace culture. By reducing barriers to your company’s recruitment process, you will likely begin to attract much more diverse talent, including those with disabilities, and thus leading to more opportunities for you to find the best qualified candidates for your positions. Studies have also shown that by having people with disabilities on your payroll, that not only do they drive innovation, but this influences others around them as well. When you have a diverse workforce, you have an advantage when it comes to creativity, inclusiveness, and problem-solving which produces a positive work environment for everyone.
