Job Seekers

WIA Enrollment

Customers intending to enroll in the WIA Program must be registered as a Job Seeker on www.connectingcolorado.com (Customers not registered prior to the WIA Informational Session will need to attend the next available session)

Step 1: Attend a WIA Informational/Intake Session

Informational/Intake Sessions are held at Arapahoe/Douglas Works' main office located at
6974 S. Lima Street, Centennial, CO  80112.

Learn the WIA process for enrollment and ask questions about the WIA program at an Informational/Intake Session. Attendance to an Informational/Intake Session is a mandatory step in accessing WIA services. Informational/Intake Sessions are approximately two hours in length. The first hour focuses on a general overview of WIA services offered at Arapahoe/Douglas Works! Following a short break, eligible customers are moved on to the intake portion of the presentation, a mandatory part of enrollment. The first 17 customers will be admitted into each WIA Intake Session and late arrivals will not be admitted. Informational/Intake Sessions are held regularly according to the following schedule:

Day Start Time
Monday 8:00  - 10:00 a.m.
Wednesday 1:00 - 3:00 p.m.

Pre-registration is required as space is limited. Please visit Info Sessions on the Upcoming Events Calendar to register.

During the intake portion of the presentation, eligible paperwork will be completed and customers will be required to sign a Customer Agreement Contract. Provided all requirements are met and appropriate documentation is provided, it will be determined if customers are eligible for the WIA Program. Please be aware that eligibility determination for the WIA Program is not a guarantee of enrollment service or training funds.

If a customer is missing eligibility documentation, he/she will have 7 calendar days to provide it to the Intake Specialist. If required eligibility documentation is not provided within the 7-day time limit, the customer will be deemed ineligible and the file will be shredded. Customers still wishing to enroll in WIA will be required to attend another Intake Session.

Required Documentation for WIA Eligibility Determination:

  • Colorado Driver’s License or State Identification
  • Social Security Card
  • Selective Service verification for all males
  • Job Search contacts
  • DD-214 (Veterans)
  • Letter of Layoff (Dislocated Workers)
  • Notice of Decision and Monetary Determination letter (Dislocated Workers)

Step 2: Attend "WIA Boot Camp"

At the conclusion of the Informational/Intake Session, eligible customers will be assigned to attend a mandatory WIA Boot Camp. For WIA Adult participants, this Boot Camp takes place every Tuesday - Thursday from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. For WIA Dislocated Worker participants, an accelerated one-day Boot Camp is offered either Monday from 12:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. or Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Both Boot Camps consist of hands-on activities to jump start your job search, including making the most of Connecting Colorado Database, social media, resume strategies and more.

Step 3: Meet With a Workforce Specialist

Usually during the same week that customers attend Boot Camp, a Workforce Specialist will schedule an initial one-on-one appointment (called a Comprehensive Assessment) designed to assess a customer's specific skill set and unique needs. Please note that due to a high volume of applicants, Workforce Specialists may not have appointment availability for up to six business days and qualifying Veterans will receive appointment preference. It is important to understand that not all customers will be considered for training funds and only after a comprehensive assessment has been completed can a Workforce Specialist determine which WIA services will be provided. Successful completion of the Boot Camp and the Comprehensive Assessment will result in automatic enrollment into the WIA Program. Failure to attend the Boot Camp or complete the Comprehensive Assessment  will result in non-enrollment into WIA services, and a suspension from re-applying for WIA services for 90 days.
