Informational Session: Care Partner Apprenticeship (In-Person) @ Aurora
Join Us for an Informational Session on the Care Partner Apprenticeship Program
Registered Apprenticeship sponsor GeriAides will present information about their Care Partner Apprenticeship Program. During this session, participants will learn about the Apprentice’s journey, explore how the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) can support you through this program and participate in the question-and-answer session to determine if this opportunity is the right fit for your career.
Apprentices will work with a partnering business throughout the program to develop the skills needed to provide quality care to elderly patients—all while earning pay increases as they progress.
Pay Milestones:
Starting rate: $18.81/hour
First increase: $19.00/hour upon successful completion of 50% of competencies
Second increase: $20.00/hour upon full completion of all apprenticeship requirements, including On-the-Job-Learning and Related Training Instruction hours.
The apprenticeship journey lasts approximately 6–12 months, combining related technical instruction with on-the-job training. Upon completion, apprentices will earn a Qualified Medication Administration Personnel (QMAP) certification.
Essential Functions of the Care Partner Role:
- Assist residents with activities of daily living, including dressing, grooming, standby assistance for bathing, and getting to and from activities and meals according to individual service plans. Encourage residents to be as independent as possible.
- Escort residents to and from activities and meals as needed.
- Assist in serving meals to residents in the dining room or apartments; may help prepare meals following preplanned menus. Encourage healthy eating and hydration while respecting residents’ rights to make their own choices. Record and report any changes in residents’ eating habits to the supervisor.
Technology and Job Search (Virtual)
It can be hard to keep up with the ever-changing programs and systems that are at your fingertips. While working with programs such as artificial intelligence (AI) might seem intimidating, you can turn that potential employment barrier into a tool. In this workshop, you will learn how to use different AI programs, like ChatGPT and Bing, to help your job search, build your resume, find potential mock interview questions, and solve other problems you may face.
Register for this workshop on Zoom.
